ABOUT SPONSORSHIP
-
We're not asking you to be in a TV commercial (yet). Instead, we're looking to contribute in a smart way to people's passions. The more you let us know about you, the bigger the difference we hope to make during the next year. Maybe you want to learn how to snowboard. Or install a double oven to springboard your baking hobby.
This sponsorship is about identifying what you need to pursue the thing you love best. In return, we expect you to give it your all. And share how Prilosec OTC supported your passion.
-
The number really depends on how many qualified entries we receive, but we could choose up to 50 Officials in each round. And with at least six rounds scheduled, you have a big opportunity to polish your application, campaign for votes, and grab our attention..
-
Any passionate person from any one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia can submit an application. Maine used to have a privacy law that prevented us from allowing residents to enter, but new legislation recently took that law off the books—maybe they realized the fun they were missing out on.
-
-
No. Your application remains active through all of the judging rounds, but your vote tally resets to zero at the end of each round—and votes are a big part of getting noticed by our Review Board! So even though your application is good to go, keep spreading the word about your passion and campaigning for votes.
-
Voting is open to the public. Anyone who registers on the site can vote up to one time per day for each of their favorite candidates. Sponsorship hopefuls are eligible to vote for other applicants, too. And because everyone's vote total resets to zero at the end of each round, it pays to work for votes and draw as many as you can in each round, because the judges do take note of that number.
-
It's not technically a requirement. But we're willing to bet that you'll grab more attention—and votes—with an application video in your corner. It's kind of like the difference between reading about a football game in the paper and having front-row seats on the 50-yard line. A video brings your story to life.
-
We'd love it if you would mention Prilosec OTC in your application and video. But, hey, we just ask that you use our full name. The "OTC" part is pretty important to us. And you might even score a few brownie points with the judges for getting it right.
-
Votes are definitely a factor in choosing Officials, and we encourage everyone to really campaign for them—especially because vote tallies reset to zero after each round. But our esteemed judges get the final say in awarding sponsorships, and no vote total guarantees a winner.
-
It shouldn't be long! We review all applications before they show up as public profiles. But you'll receive an email as soon as that happens.
-
Everything but the video, pictures, and links to websites and social networks are required. But you're more likely to land a sponsorship if you take the time and effort to give us all of the details, including those funny snapshots. You always can save your sponsorship story and come back to finish up with videos and photos later.
-
If your video is more than one- to two-minutes long—or it's just high-quality video—you might struggle to stay within the 2 GB file-size limit. But most movie-editing programs allow you to compress your video, which should help you bring it within the file-size limit.
-
No. Just kidding... Yes, click here if you've forgotten your password.
-
Keep it short and sweet—between one minute and two minutes long. We just want to see you in action. Show us who you are and what you love to do. Show off any cool gear you use. And don't forget to tell us why it's important to you and what you need from us, your potential official sponsor. We already asked about heartburn in the application form, so your video is your place to talk about your passion. Learn more about creating your application video here.
-
There's actually a short review process before your video goes live on our site. It's just a way for us to keep things clean around here.
-
We're all for creativity, but there are some things that could keep your video off the site. Your video should not include:
- Your last name, phone number, or email address
- Offensive content or dangerous situations
- Religion, politics, alcohol consumption, or gambling
- Reference to or depiction of any drug use
- Celebrity names or images
- Other people's music or songs
- Reference to or depiction of fishing or hunting
- Medical advice or your doctor's name
- Kids other than your own kids if you're a mom or dad
- Other brand logos (We're happy for you to show Prilosec OTC.)
- Footage from movies or TV shows
- References to specific charities, companies, products, or people
- References to specific institutions, or schools
- Indication of ongoing or daily Prilosec OTC use without explicitly stating you do so with your doctor's supervision
- References to use of Prilosec OTC for any purpose not indicated on the product label
See the Official Rules for full guidelines about the content.
-
We're sorry your video didn't get the green light. But there are some parameters all videos must meet to go live on OfficialSponsor.com. Please see the question above for a list of reasons your video might have been rejected. We encourage you to edit or re-shoot your video with these guidelines in mind and then resubmit it to our site.
-
Great question. We're storing your video file on YouTube. We're displaying your video in two places: OfficialSponsor.com and YouTube. We'd like as many people to see your story as possible.
-
No. It's not a requirement. We'll ask you a couple of simple questions about heartburn in the application form, but in your video and written application story, we just want to hear about your passion. Tell us who you are, what you love to do, and what you need to do it better.
-
This is a solo gig. But it's perfectly OK if you pursue your passion with a group, club, or team. We'd just be sponsoring you instead of the whole gang. For instance, if you serve with a whole team of firefighters, could you be the Official Grillmaster of the firehouse? Then you could be sponsored with a new grill, and everyone at the house would benefit. Just make sure everyone in your group has consented to your use of their names or images first. If sponsored, you will need to provide signed consent forms for everyone in your photos and videos. We'll give you the appropriate forms if you're chosen.
-
Pets are top notch, but we're sticking with humans. You could land a sponsorship as your pet's owner, though. Official Dog Walker has a nice ring to it. So does Official Guinea Pig Trainer.
-
Absolutely. You still can apply for it. If it's your top choice and you have a great story to back it up, then go for it. Be true to yourself. Our Review Board will evaluate both applications based on exactly the same selection criteria.
On the other hand, you always can add a qualifying word if you like. For instance, if someone has already applied for Official Dog Walker, you might enter an application for Official Dachshund Dog Walker.
-
The minimum age is 18, but there's no maximum. We'd love to hear from some passionate octogenarians and centenarians.
-
Being selected is the starting line, not the finish line. Your first duty will be a breeze for someone like you: Enjoy your passion. Then share how Prilosec OTC contributed to your passion with a sponsorship. And come back to OfficialSponsor.com to show the community what you do this year with your sponsorship.
-
Not exactly. There's no official sponsorship deal to put your John Hancock on, but you might have to sign some paperwork to collect your award. If selected for brand sponsorship, you'll have the chance to talk with someone from our Review Board before your name is announced. We'll make sure you're good with the arrangement before signing you on and distributing your award.
-
It depends on what you ask for. We want to contribute in a way that makes a difference. Because each passion is different, each award will be a little different.
But we can tell you this: We're looking to help most people who land sponsorship deals with awards worth around $1,000, an amount that will vary depending on individual requests. If your passion requires something worth more, you'll have to be especially persuasive.
Actual sponsorship values are determined at the discretion of Prilosec OTC and P&G, and are not subject to negotiation. See the complete Official Rules governing sponsorship values.
-
Not officially. But we'll keep in touch every few months and hope you'll share updates on this site to show what you do with your sponsorship and the difference it makes.
-
We totally get where you're coming from. If it were up to us, the answer would be a big fat "yes." But we're guessing you'll have to work out those details yourself with the Hollywood bigwigs.
