KATHERINE T.
The Official Prilosec OTC
Female Dirt Track Racer
2 months and got the race with the win

Finally, after 2 months or so of not racing we were able to get out on the track. The night started out rough, I wasn't feeling good and the tire on our trailor lost its tread. In the heat race we lined up to go across the track to get lined up in the right starting positions but instead they just sent us out on the track. So all these years of being the first one up there finally paid off. I started on the pole since they didn't line us up. Got the green and I got a descent start but the outside pole sitter pinched me down just enough in turn one that I couldn't get a run off of the turn. So for  the heat I finished 2nd. For the feature my dad/ crew cheif made a great decision to go from a soft tire to a hard tire. I paid off, I WON!!!!! After three restarts; one of them me jumping the green, I got another good jump and smoked the inside pole sitter into one. From there it was just hit the marks and hold on. About 5 laps into the race the car actually tightened up, what I felt was bad, but what everyone else seen was just a little tight. So with about 3 to go I came up on one of my team mates that was trying out  a car, since last night was considered an exibition race, and ended up having more trouble than I thought was necessary.  The guy actually was blocking me so after a lap or so of trying to get around him, I finally got a hole and went on. Ended up with the 2nd place car he just moved over for him, which sucked for me. I happened to be far enough ahead that the little problem didn't hurt me much so I just kept hitting my marks and hope my car would hold up. Which it did and I went on to win. Now for tonight the track would go and interview the winners (not done otherwise) so I pulled up and go out. Of course my helmet wanted to be difficult, the "quick snaps" were so quick. I couldn't even get my helmet off to talk so I had to do the interview inside the helmet. Then for the pictures of just me and the race car I finally was able to get it off. So hopefully sometime this week I'll have a picture to put up here of my win.

it has been a long time

So it has been quiet a long time since I've had anything going on. These past couple of races have been getting rained  out and haven't been able to improve on my points position which is still second place. I did get my care package from Prilosec and it was great!!!!!! I got to at least wear the shirt that I was given last Saturday to the rain out instead of a race. I love the fact that there is going to be a sponsors flag flying on my racing trailor this saturday at my next, hopefully a race and not a rain out. When I was wearing my shirt at the race track this past saturday night everyone there was looking at me kinda funny. Like they were reading the shirt and then looking at me like they couldn't figure out what was going on. I loved it!!! Hopefully I will actually have something to type and tell about this coming new week. So until then LETS GO RACING!!!! Please no rain :)

rain out

So last night sucked... we got rained out in Waycross. Shocker. If it's a 10 percent chance of rain for all of Georgia, Waycross Speedway seems to get all of that 10 percent. I had a good number drawn possibly a pole postion; 16 was the number. And what does it do.... rain. Oh well maybe in a month at the next race we can do it all over again.

Bad times never ending

Will my bad luck ever stop with this TQ? I just can't seem to catch a break to save my life. It seems like when I feel like my car is awesome and it's the one to beat, problems arise. As usual though my family/ race team and I will always over come them because that's what we do I guess, make the hard times look easy. The problem I had this past race weekend was that in the heat race I started on the outside pole and thought that I got a really good run off into turn one. I thought better than my competitor that started on the inside pole. Well, after diving off into turn one coming into turn 2 I guess he washed up from a hole in the track and ended off pretty much ripping my nose of the car off on one side so now I had a push because the nose would always hit the tire when I'd plant the car into the turn. Well after almost catching and passing the leader after the altercation, I ended up losing ground and finishing 2nd in the heat. Fixing the nose was no problem at all just taking out some rivets and putting them back in; that's really all there was to do. Nothing too awful bad. So in the feature I started 3rd, right behind the guy that beat me in the heat. He and I both got great jumps on the start so we both took off trying to lose the pack. Well, 2 or 3 laps into the race I seemed to have busted a part (the oil sending until) that began to spray oil every where. Unaware that it was oil, I kept on racing. The veiw that I had from the smoke was that it was  a left front tire rubbing because the smoke was coming from right over the tire. I stayed out hoping to just finish out the race being able to hold on to 2nd place. Well, that wasn't happening with 5 laps to go they pulled me off the track. So maybe next time we'll have it fixed and I'll win. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sorry for being late....

Last race was a good night of racing for us. We finished 3rd in the heat race after I stupidly spun my tires on the start in 2nd place. I thought that I was going to get an awesome start like I usually do but man was I wrong. My tires didn't get any grip until I up shifted and then I finally launched, but it was already too late; I was pasted for 2nd and 3rd was where I stuck. In the feature I figured I was going to do just ok because I had 5 other cars to weed through in only 20 laps. During the heat race the car that beat me out for 2nd place somehow broke 2 out of his 3 motor mounts and started on the tail end in the feature which then moved me up to 4th. With a tighter track and less mud on it I was able to get a great launch. As soon as I got to turn 2 I had already passed one car. I was stuck behind the 2nd place car for about 10 laps when he finally made a big mistake and for once I was the one that was able to capitialize and it not be the other way around.  So after riding out the rest of the race I finisihed 2nd. Not too exciting of a night but a great points night. I am now in 2nd place points only 20 behind 1st and 15 in front of 3rd. So its a very tight race.
